This route takes us around Lake Sabljaci and its breathtaking natural surroundings. The ride is easy as the route is mostly flat with just a few short climbs, making it perfect for family cycling.
Lake Sabljaci is an artificial lake created for nearby hydroelectric plants. Located south of Ogulin town, it’s easily accessible by train (Ogulin station) or other transportation. The lake is home to numerous fish and bird species and serves as a gathering place for locals and visitors year-round.
The cycling route mainly follows quiet asphalt and gravel roads. Two interesting spots mark the southern section. A wooden bridge crossing the stream flowing from Bistrac Spring into the lake. The turnoff to the bridge is near house number 57 (easy to miss!). Nature around bridge is stunning and water is crystal-clear. Bistrac Spring, located at the route’s southernmost point, offers another beautiful resting spot.
On the lake’s western side, the route runs mostly along field and gravel roads with numerous scenic lake views that invite frequent stops.
The route starts and ends in the holiday village of Sabljaci.
How to get to the start
We’re not aware of any public transportation options directly to the lake. However, Ogulin is just a few kilometers away and Ogulin easily accessible by train.
