Cycling in Međimurje along Mura river is excellent for family cycling. It is flat and easy. You can visit various places and enjoy quiet roads. In surrounding fields you can see wild animals (don’t worry, they do not bite). You can also combine routes in several countries so you can brag around you were visiting many countries in fist full of kilometers. This area is excellent for “longer” weekends, preferable if you can combine local holiday with weekend, for which we here, are the masters. In this case we combined International Workers’ Day (1.5.) and nice weather.
We would like to recommend Otok ljubezni on river Mura, close to village Ižakovci, pizzeria Vuri at Mursko Središće (grab a pizza for a dinner) and don’t miss watchtower Vinarium Lendava at Lendava (it is impressive).
