Only nature and us

This route takes us through the forested areas and wide fields between Ogulin and Oštarije. A particularly memorable part is the dense woods where we ride along a gravel road and pass the arched Marmont Bridge. In the final stretch, we cycle alongside Lake Sabljaci, which is also perfect for cycling. If you have time, you can combine this route with the one around the lake.

The ride starts in Ogulin, in front of the train station, and soon enters the aforementioned woodland. Much of the route follows gentle gravel paths with no major climbs, making it easy to ride.

In the village of Oštarije, we can take a break near the Marmont Bridge and admire the skilled stonework of its construction. The bridge is named after French Marshal Marmont, who governed the Illyrian Provinces during Napoleon’s rule.

On the way back to Ogulin, we pass through open fields and ride near Lake Sabljaci.

The cycling route mostly follows quiet roads (with a few exceptions) and largely consists of gravel paths. There are plenty of spots to rest and enjoy the natural beauty along the way.

How to get to the start

The cycling route begins in front of Ogulin’s train station. A perfect starting point if you’re arriving by train.
