This route will take us through the surroundings of Zaprešić and introduce us to a few interesting sites. The route is easy to ride and follows numerous paths with no traffic, making it suitable for a family ride as well.
At the very start of the route, we visit the Zajarki Lakes, a favorite spot for recreation among locals and visitors alike. The question is whether to continue riding after the lakes. Yes, yes, absolutely, because there is still more to see.
After the lakes, we will visit the Novi Dvori site, which we will reach via gravel roads and a grassy embankment along the Črnec stream. Novi Dvori is a great place to rest under the canopy of centuries-old trees.
Continuing on, we ride along a gravel road to Pojatno, then toward Donja Pušća. From Donja Pušća to Zaprešić, there is a cycling path along the Pušća stream. For us, this is the most interesting part. Therefore, we recommend not rushing, but instead stopping, sitting on one of the benches, and enjoying the peace and nature.
Finally, we pass through Zaprešić and return to the start of this route near the Zaprešić-Savska train station.
The start of the route is easily accessible by train from any direction.
If you would like to try something similar, we recommend the ride along the Follow old Sava river from Zaprešić to Harmica, as well as the Along embankments of river Sava and ornithological reserve Sava – Strmec.
Good to know
This route is most beautiful to ride in spring or autumn, when nature displays its splendor in the greatest magnificence. In summer, during high temperatures, the route is best ridden in the morning or late afternoon/early evening.
The route is best ridden on an all-terrain bicycle – what most people call a gravel bike. Personally, we recommend a good tire for gravel, with a minimum width of 35 mm.
At 11 km from the start, we cross Ban J. Jelačić Street. You must cross the road carefully and on foot, then continue on the bike lane on the other side. The same must be done at 12.2 km, where you carefully cross the road on foot and continue along the bike path.
From 16.7 km, the route runs along Matije Gubca Street (Pojatno). Here, we recommend riding on the sidewalk while respecting pedestrians.
